Up

No matter where we are in our lives, the only consistent thing is that things will change. Things can change to the better or worse and the key to staying afloat is to not fight against reality. Instead, surrender to it. Fighting against life is like swimming against the current. You swim, swim and you end up in the same place. Now, if you choose to go with the flow, then you have a chance to survive. The same applies to pain, instead of going through it I say, grow through it.

Learning to deal with impermanence is one of the greatest virtues in life. How do you do that, you may ask? Accept life as is, simple as that. Notice that I am not saying you have to sit there and do nothing. No. Do your best with what you have but understand that a lot is out of our control. All we can control is how we react to situations. We all have choices and we make them all day long. From the time we wake up and choose to hit snooze or not to the time you choose to yell at your kids or not. Everything is a choice so choose wisely.

So many go through life believing that the most successful people on Earth do not suffer or fail. That is far from the truth. This Hollywood life we are sold to believe is fantasy. We usually see the success but we do not see what is behind it:ย  hard work, nights without sleep, hustle, falling over and over again, failing, getting up, rejection after rejection, etc. Now, what differentiates the most successful from the average is their willingness to keep going. Their willingness to grow through their pain and not letting anything or anyone stop them. Another thing, blaming circumstances and people is not a behavior seen in people who succeed. We are all responsible for our own realities. Before acting like a victim or blaming someone, look within and ask yourself:ย  what is my commitment to my growth? How committed am I to grow through the pain?

You may have heard the saying, what does not kill you makes you stronger. That is so true! Embrace your pain and learn from it. Do not just go through it and sit there waiting for things to change. Learn from it and come out stronger. One day, I promise, you will look back and be grateful you went through it all. Be grateful for your struggles because they are here simply to prepare you for something better. Surrender to what is and let go of what was. Work hard, do your part, feel the pain, acknowledge it but do not just sit with it and do nothing. Get up and keep moving forward!
