A gratitude letter for my uncle Ibes…

Tio Ibes,

Thank you for being my uncle and my godfather. Thank you for being an inspiration to me. I have always admired you since I was a little girl. I was your fan. You traveled the world, you talked smart and I wanted to be like you when I grew up. Thank you for showing me that hard work and persistence pays off. Thank you for showing our family that someone coming from humble begginings can achieve whatever they set their mind to. I am beyond grateful to call you my uncle and to have you in my life.

Thank you for being so supportive, caring, generous, and a father figure when you need to be. Thank you for helping me through the most difficult time of my life. I do not know what I would have done without your help and support. Thank you for acting like a father and for coming to the U.S. to check on me. No words can describe my gratitude for what you and tia Yoshiko have done for me and my kids. Thank you for spending time with us in Atlanta back in 2014. I hope you can come back one day.

Thank you for teaching me how to be financially aware and how to take care of my money and expenses. Thank you for checking on me and the kids even though you are far away and dealing with your own life situations. Thank you for being the coolest uncle a girl could have asked for. Thank you for the time we spent together in New York at the end of 2015. It was wonderful to spend the holidays with your family and show my kids my side of the family. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for reminding me of my mom and for telling me stories about her. I miss her and having you in my life is a reminder that my mom is still here with me.

With all my love and gratitude,

Simone
