A gratitude letter for Ramonica Harton…
Dear Ramonica,
Thank you for being one of the most incredible managers I had the pleasure of working with. Before you hired me into your department at CNN.com, we got to know each other working on the Diversity Council at CNN. We traveled to minority journalism conventions together and in those trips we got to really know each other. No words can describe how grateful I was that you hired me when I was seven months pregnant. Who does that? You did and that changed my life.
Thank you for introducing me to the digital advertising world. Had it not been for you I would not be where I am today. You allowed me to learn as much as I could even beyond my job. Because of that I learned to love the digital space and that also allowed me to grow into other areas. Thank you for being my boss but also a friend. Working for you was always a pleasure. Thank you for your kindness, humanity, authenticity, simplicity and down to earth approach to things.
We have not seen each other in years but you are always on my mind. I want you to know you have helped shape the professional I am today and for that I will be forever grateful. Thank you for teaching me that, even though work was important, family and life was even more important. Thank you for being an inspiration and for always trying to make me a better version of myself professionally.
I hope we get to see each other sooner than later so I can thank you in person.
